David Wainberg

Director of Privacy and Platform Policy, AppNexus

David Wainberg is the Director of Privacy and Platform Policy for AppNexus, a leading online advertising technology platform used by companies around the world to buy and sell billions of online ads every day. In this role, David drives AppNexus's responses to an array of complex policy issues that are deeply intertwined with technology.

David has previously worked for the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI), where he led the NAI's strategy on major policy issues affecting the online advertising industry, including the NAI's engagement on Do Not Track. He also helped to ensure companies' compliance with the NAI Code.

Earlier in his career, David provided consulting and counsel to private clients on matters related to technology, privacy, and information security law, including HIPAA, ECPA, cyber self-defense, malware risk.

Before becoming an attorney, David worked as a web designer and developer for nearly a decade. He received his B.S. magna cum laude in Computer Science from the University of Maine, and received his J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law. David is a Certified Information Privacy Professional.
