Heather received a B.A. summa cum laude from Middlebury College as well as a M.S.Ed. with highest honors from the University of Southern Maine. While in law school, she had two case notes published in the Maine Law Review and eventually served as its Editor–in–Chief. After graduation, she clerked for the Honorable Judge Kermit V. Lipez for the First Circuit Court of Appeals. After the clerkship, Heather worked for the law firm Ropes and Gray in Boston, MA. Heather has recently moved back to Maine, working as a litigator for Brann and Isaacson in Lewiston. She handles most of the IP related litigation matters in the firm's trademark and copyright areas. In her spare time, she is the co-owner of Rising Tide Brewery in Portland, Maine.

How the IP Clinic helped her career:
"The clinic helped me learn an understanding of the trademark process. Obviously it has helped me with my legal career, as I handle much of the IP litigation matters for Brann and Isaacson. Also, I was able to search for the marks that we wanted to use for our beer and was able to get our name registered with the USPTO."
