Maine Patent Program

Maine Patent Program

The Maine Patent Program (2001-2014) was funded by the state legislature "to support the commercialization and manufacturing of innovations in the State by providing education and assistance with the patent process of the United States Patent and Trademark Office to companies, inventors and entrepreneurs in the State." 10 MRSA 1921.

The mission was to support economic development by helping Maine inventors and small businesses understand how to identify and protect their intellectual property. The Maine Patent Program closed in June 2014.

NOTE: Entrepreneurs and inventors with a general question about patent law can visit the Inventor’s Assistant Center of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Prior clients of Maine Law’s Intellectual Property Clinic or the Maine Patent Program may contact Karen Murphy (207.780.4370) at Maine Law to acquire their files.
